Wiliete: Mabululu, nine goals in ten matches, takes them top of the Girabola!

Angolan striker Cristóvão Paciência, known as Mabululu, gave Wiliete Sports Club victory over Sao Salvador do Kongo (1-0) from the penalty spot. With nine goals in ten matches in all competitions, he is driving his club to the top of the Girabola.

On Wednesday, at the Estadio Nacional de Ombaka, Mabululu broke the deadlock on the hour mark by converting a penalty. Wiliete Sports Club won 1-0 against Sao Salvador do Kongo, according to Pan Africa Football. A win that lets the Benguela club strengthen its position at the top of the Girabola.

The 30-year-old striker has scored nine goals in his last ten matches in all competitions. He has also made his mark on the continental stage, where he has scored four goals in the CAF Champions League.

A penalty that makes the difference

Against Sao Salvador do Kongo, Wiliete had to wait until the hour mark to find a way through. It was Mabululu who stepped up to convert the penalty, giving his team the three points. The win is the club’s sixth in seven Girabola matches, and they sit three points clear at the top of the table, again according to Pan Africa Football.

In the league, the striker has five goals in six Girabola matches. His team are thus putting together a good run, with six wins in seven games.

An equaliser in the Champions League

On the continental stage, Mabululu has also left his mark. In the CAF Champions League he has scored four goals, including the equaliser at Loftus Versfeld against Mamelodi Sundowns. That goal allowed Wiliete to eliminate the reigning South African champions on the away goals rule, after a 0-0 in Luanda in the first leg.

With those four goals, the Angolan leads the race for the Champions League Golden Boot, according to Pan Africa Football.

Beto Bianchi stays on course

Wiliete coach Beto Bianchi said: “We are very focused on the game against Sao Salvador, a very difficult team, but we have our goal, which necessarily involves winning three points at our home in front of our fans.” His team secured the win from the penalty spot.

Wiliete’s next fixture is matchday eight of the Angolan league, the Liga Unitel Girabola.
