Benin’s U15 Cheetahs beat Cuba 4-0 and then Nigeria 6-3 on the same day in Baku, with a hat-trick from Kévin Noukpo Nounagnon and a brace from Noé Faton. Scotland await in the quarter-finals.

Two matches, two wins, ten goals. On Wednesday 28 October 2026, in Baku, Benin’s U15 Cheetahs first saw off Cuba 4-0 in the round of 32 of Tier C of the FIFA U15 World Cup and Festival, reports Le Matinal. A few hours later, the same Beninese side beat Nigeria 6-3 in the round of 16.

The day smiled on coach Ghislain Agoli-Agbo’s men. Kévin Noukpo Nounagnon opened the scoring in the 15th minute against the Cubans, Noé Faton doubled the lead in the 24th, Osias Assigbe scored in the 32nd and Gabin Ludovic Dossou Zanvo Adjalala completed the scoring in the 35th. Nigeria, for their part, were unbeaten before crossing paths with the Cheetahs.

Against the Nigerians, Noé Faton struck early, in the 3rd and 8th minutes. Kévin Noukpo Nounagnon then helped himself to a hat-trick in the 21st, 22nd and 35th minutes, before a goal from Osias Assigbe in the 33rd. Nigeria, according to Le Matinal, thus suffer their first defeat of the competition.

These performances are reflected in the tournament statistics: Faton and Assigbe have seven goals each, Nounagnon six.

Four goals per match on average

Benin have scored 28 goals in seven matches, an average of four per game, according to Le Matinal. The competition, played in an 8-a-side format, runs from 24 to 30 October in Baku, specifies Nasuba.

Before these two routs, the Cheetahs had already beaten Turkmenistan 4-1, recalls Nasuba. Cheihana Baaba and Rivaldo Mevognon are also among the players named in the national team’s file.

Scotland up next in the quarter-finals

The next appointment is set for Thursday morning, in the quarter-finals, against Scotland, according to Le Matinal and Nasuba. An opponent the Cheetahs will face with an already substantial attacking record in this competition.
