Al Ahli Tripoli: Fiston Mayele scores a brace on his league debut!

In his first outing of the season, DR Congo international striker Fiston Mayele scored a brace against Al Bashayer to give Al Ahli Tripoli the win, just ahead of the Leopards’ next gathering.

In his first appearance of the season in an Al Ahli Tripoli shirt, Fiston Mayele scored a brace against Al Bashayer in the 15th and 40th minutes, according to Zolanews. The Libyan club took the win thanks to those two goals.

The timing is notable: the performance comes just before the Leopards’ next gathering. DR Congo are indeed due to face Sierra Leone twice in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers. According to Zolanews, the performance sends a strong signal to the Leopards, though no call-up has been announced at this stage.

“The Cyborg” strikes straight away

The nickname fits the performance. Mayele is known as “the Cyborg”, a label Zolanews links to his efficiency in front of goal. Both his goals came before the break, in the 15th and 40th minutes.

This first outing obviously does not say everything about the striker’s form over the long run. It does at least set a marker for the rest of the season.

The Leopards in sight

The double-header against Sierra Leone in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers is the Leopards’ next appointment. The report mentions no decision from the DR Congo staff on a possible squad list: a club brace does not equal a call-up.

Nothing therefore guarantees that Mayele will be in the DR Congo squad for those matches. The performance is nonetheless timely for a player wearing Al Ahli Tripoli’s colours.

A busy autumn for Al Ahli

The Libyan club have more than the league to manage. Al Ahli Tripoli are in Group B of the CAF Confederation Cup, alongside AS FAR, Azam FC and Durban City FC, according to H24info. Their first matches in the competition are scheduled for between 27 and 29 November.

For Mayele, the run of games looks packed: domestic fixtures, the continental stage and, possibly, international duty with DR Congo.
