Tanzania will be represented by two clubs in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup. At the Azam Complex in Chamazi, Singida Black Stars drew 1-1 with Tusker FC and confirmed their qualification 2-1 over the two legs, following their 1-0 win in the first leg in Nairobi. Azam FC qualified by beating Egypt’s ZED 1-0, 2-1 on aggregate.

Tusker FC: Julien Mette’s disappointment
Tusker had already lost 1-0 at home in Nairobi in the first leg. Their coach, Julien Mette, says his team are very sad and disappointed, but declares himself proud of his players and believes they have no regrets about the way they played this match.
Mette also claims that if his team had played the first leg with the same intensity and the same energy, they would have won by two or three goals. Tusker, who had never reached the group stage, are a young team: he hopes his players will learn a lesson from it and come back stronger next year.
