Mohamed Salah, the Trabzonspor and Egypt forward, leads the Süper Lig scoring charts ahead of the trip to Çaykur Rizespor this Monday 26 October for matchday 9.
Eight league goals: Mohamed Salah has taken top spot in the Süper Lig scoring charts. He scored his eighth league goal in Trabzonspor’s 2-0 win over Beşiktaş, played on a Monday, according to Anadolu Agency. He also has three assists in eight league matches this season.
That return is part of a collective run: Trabzonspor have now won four games in a row under head coach Thomas Reis, again according to the Turkish agency. The club travel to Çaykur Rizespor this Monday 26 October at 19:00 Turkish time, 18:00 in Paris, with Halil Umut Meler refereeing.
A scorer above all at home
The Egyptian striker scored a penalty against Hearts on 22 October in the Conference League, his tenth goal for Trabzonspor in European competitions, Süper Lig Haberler reports. His contribution is therefore not limited to the league.
In the Süper Lig, the split of his goals paints a more domestic picture: according to Sondakika, seven of his league goals have come at home, where he also has two assists, against a single goal in four away games.
A defence that locks the door
Trabzonspor’s run does not rest on their forward alone. According to Ahaber, the club have conceded no goals in their last three league matches, a solidity that accompanies this fourth straight win under Thomas Reis.
Against Rize, recent history nevertheless favours the hosts: according to Trabzon Haber, Rizespor have won three of the last four league meetings between the two sides. The same site, however, gives contradictory information on Rize’s home results this season, which the article therefore cannot settle; kick-off will have to clear things up.
An away trip to confirm
Monday’s fixture counts for matchday 9 of the Süper Lig. For Salah, it is about extending a start to the season that puts him top of the league’s scoring charts, with eight goals according to Anadolu Agency.
The match is refereed by Halil Umut Meler, and kick-off is set for 19:00 in Turkey, 18:00 in Paris. Trabzonspor will go into it with a defence that has conceded no goals in their last three league matches, against a Rize side that has beaten the club three times in the last four league meetings.
