Atalanta: Odilon Kossounou ruled out of Frosinone visit!

Odilon Kossounou, Atalanta’s Ivorian centre-back and Ivory Coast international, has been officially ruled out of Sunday’s visit of Frosinone on 25 October 2026. He is suffering from a thigh muscle injury, according to the club.

Atalanta will have to do without Odilon Kossounou for the visit of Frosinone on Sunday 25 October 2026 at 15:00 at the New Balance Arena. The club has confirmed the absence of the Ivorian centre-back, who is struggling with a thigh problem and stayed in treatment the day before the match.

Another absentee in an already weakened defensive department, which is also missing Giorgio Scalvini, Sead Kolašinac and Isak Hien, according to BergamoNews. Atalanta, coached by Maurizio Sarri, go into matchday 8 of Serie A with a major defensive shortage, according to WhoScored.

A thigh and a treatment protocol

According to Atalanta BC’s official website, Kossounou is suffering from a thigh muscle injury. The player followed a therapy protocol at the Bortolotti centre on Saturday 24 October, on the eve of the game.

The Bergamo staff must therefore do without one of their first-choice centre-backs for this fixture.

A defence shorn of several centre-backs

According to BergamoNews, Scalvini, Kolašinac and Hien are also sidelined. Sarri must make do with a depleted back line to face newly promoted Frosinone.

Midfielder Franck Kessié, an Ivory Coast international like Kossounou, is also struggling with a physical issue and has been receiving treatment, the local outlet reports. Ghanaian winger Kamaldeen Sulemana, for his part, trained away from the group, alternating between the gym and the pitch, Atalanta BC said.

Kossounou also remains a key member of Ivory Coast’s Elephants ahead of preparations for the next Africa Cup of Nations, La Sicilia points out.

A difficult sporting context

The sporting context does not help. Atalanta have lost five of their last seven matches in all competitions, including a 2-0 defeat at Ajax in midweek, according to BergamoNews. In the Serie A table, the Bergamo side sit 11th with 9 points before this matchday 8.

Newly promoted Frosinone, meanwhile, are 4 points ahead of Atalanta and lie 6th with 13 points, again according to BergamoNews. The visit of the Ciociaria club therefore comes at a difficult time for Bergamo.

The rest of the schedule continues with matchday 9 of Serie A on Thursday 29 October 2026, against Sassuolo.
