Edo Queens: CAF moves the conclusion of their final against Ampem Darkoa to Cairo!

CAF has ordered that the conclusion of the UFOA-B final between Edo Queens and Ampem Darkoa Ladies be played in Egypt on 28 or 29 October. The Nigerian club confirmed it accepted the decision in a statement on 22 October.

The UFOA-B qualifying final will continue in Egypt. CAF has officially ordered that the conclusion of the match between Edo Queens and Ampem Darkoa Ladies be played on 28 or 29 October 2026, The Guardian Nigeria reports. Play will resume at the start of extra time, with the score at 2-2.

Edo Queens have accepted the decision. In a statement published on Thursday 22 October, the Nigerian club said it had taken its decision after consultation with the Edo State government and the Nigeria Football Federation, according to AdemolaSports and ACLSports. The dispute arose on the pitch, during the final played on 5 September 2026 in Ouagadougou.

A penalty shootout without extra time

That day, in the UFOA-B zone final, the referee had skipped the regulation extra time and directly ordered a penalty shootout. Edo Queens had won it 4-1, according to The Guardian Nigeria. That refereeing decision is at the origin of the dispute.

Ampem Darkoa lodged a complaint, which was upheld by the CAF appeal jury on 16 October 2026. The continental body’s decision is therefore not limited to the outcome of the penalty shootout: it sends both teams back onto the pitch, at the start of the extra time that was not played.

Thirty minutes and a new referee

The match will resume at 2-2, for two periods of 15 minutes, according to The Guardian Nigeria. If the teams are level at the end of extra time, a penalty shootout will be held immediately, KickGH specifies. The same source indicates that an entirely new refereeing team will be appointed to officiate during this extra time.

The Edo Queens delegation will leave Nigeria for Cairo on Monday 26 October 2026, according to AdemolaSports. The club said through its management, quoted by AdemolaSports: “Our mission remains unchanged: to fight, to win and to secure our place in the CAF Women’s Champions League. We have chosen to move forward with courage, discipline and resilience.”

Group B in their sights

The winner of this extra time will join Group B of the CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament, alongside AS FAR, USFAS Bamako and Kawempe Muslim Ladies, according to The Guardian Nigeria. The final tournament will be held from 1 to 15 November 2026 in Egypt.

The resumption, scheduled for 28 or 29 October, therefore comes just days before the start of the final tournament, set for 1 November.
