A day after TP Mazembe threatened to lodge a complaint with CAF, Club Africain have called on their supporters to show strict discipline before Sunday’s return leg in Radès, where striker Allan Kanté, scorer of the equaliser in the first leg, and his team-mates will be playing for a place in the next round.
Club Africain chose to issue a statement. On Thursday 22 October 2026, the Tunis club’s management urged its supporters to show “strict discipline” ahead of the second leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, according to Foot Africa and Kawarji. The appeal comes a day after TP Mazembe threatened to lodge a complaint with CAF, denouncing noise disturbances and firecrackers thrown in front of their hotel in Tunis, La Presse de Tunisie reports.
The statement sets out the rules: pyrotechnics, smoke bombs and lasers are discouraged, while throwing bottles or objects and pitch invasions are strictly forbidden, according to Foot Africa and Kawarji. The club’s management warns of the sanctions the host club could face.
A reminder of CAF sanctions
The statement recalls that CAF’s disciplinary regulations provide for heavy financial and sporting sanctions against host clubs, according to Kawarji.
The management also stresses the tone. “The behaviour of the supporters must reflect the values of fair play, passion and attachment to the club’s colours,” the text reads, as quoted by Kawarji.
The file makes no mention of any proceedings opened by CAF. TP Mazembe’s threat to lodge a complaint remains a fact reported by the Tunisian press, with no confirmation that a submission has been made to the continental body.
A draw in the first leg, everything still to play for
On the pitch, the tie remains wide open. On 17 October in Lubumbashi, the two teams drew 1-1, according to African Manager. Josué Kazema, striker for the Congolese Ravens, had opened the scoring with a header in the 37th minute, according to Mosaique FM. Allan Kanté, Club Africain’s striker, equalised in the 38th minute with a clinical strike, according to African Manager.
In the previous round, Club Africain had knocked out Stade Malien 3-2 on aggregate, while TP Mazembe qualified by eliminating Medeama SC 4-1 on aggregate, according to African Manager.
A 2019 precedent and a return to Radès
The two teams have already met in a memorable match that ended 8-0 in favour of the Congolese side in 2019, Congo Quotidien recalls.
Club Africain will host TP Mazembe on Sunday 25 October 2026 at 18:00 at the Hammadi Agrebi stadium in Radès, in the second leg of the second preliminary round.
