Bayern Munich: Ismaël Saibari influential in draw with Arsenal!

Handed a starting role in the heart of Bayern’s midfield, Ismaël Saibari played his part in Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Champions League, providing a key pass and creating several situations in front of the Londoners’ box.

The Allianz Arena hosted a heavyweight clash that produced no winner: Bayern Munich and Arsenal cancelled each other out in a 2-2 draw on matchday 3 of the Champions League league phase. Ismaël Saibari, the Morocco international, was in the XI named by coach Vincent Kompany, alongside Aleksandar Pavlović and Tom Bischof.

The match remained finely balanced right to the end. Eberechi Eze had opened the scoring for the Gunners in the 25th minute, before Alphonso Davies equalised in the 35th. Harry Kane, Bayern’s striker, put his side ahead from the penalty spot in the 61st, before Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice levelled matters again in the 82nd.

In the zone 14, facing the London defence

According to observations relayed by Football Écologie France, Saibari operated in immediate support of Harry Kane in zone 14, the area of the pitch just in front of the opposition penalty area. A position that allowed him to generate several attacking situations for the Bavarian club.

FotMob reports in particular that the Moroccan supplied a key pass to Serge Gnabry, whose shot was ultimately held by David Raya. For beIN Sports, Saibari is a central figure in Kompany’s tactical plans for the big European occasions.

Arsenal halted after 14 wins

This draw brings a remarkable run to an end: Arsenal had won 14 consecutive Champions League league phase matches, according to the figures relayed by Foot Africa.

On the Bavarian side, Harry Kane has become the second player, after Cristiano Ronaldo, to score in 10 consecutive Champions League matches, TNT Sports reports. A goal that was not, however, enough to give his team the victory.

Bayern, for their part, remain unbeaten in this league phase, with a thumping win over Bodø/Glimt (5-0) and two draws, against Viking (3-3) and then Arsenal (2-2), according to beIN Sports and Foot Africa.

A table that leaves Bayern trailing

After three matchdays, Arsenal sit 7th with 7 points, while Bayern Munich are 14th with 5 points, according to TNT Sports. The Munich side have taken one win and two draws so far.

Bayern return to Bundesliga action on Sunday 25 October 2026, away to SC Freiburg.
