TP Mazembe: night-time firecrackers in Tunis, CAF complaint held in reserve before Radès

TP Mazembe has denounced night-time disturbances outside its Tunis hotel and announced that it reserves the right to refer the matter to CAF, ahead of its decisive second leg against Club Africain on 25 October in Radès.

TP Mazembe has opted for the statement route. On the morning of Wednesday 21 October 2026, the Congolese club published a message on its official X account denouncing night-time disturbances near the Royal ASBU hotel in the Centre urbain nord of Tunis, where it is staying ahead of the second leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.

According to the Lubumbashi club, firecrackers and fireworks went off for more than ten minutes in the immediate vicinity of the hotel. TPM claims its peace was deliberately disturbed ahead of what it considers an important fixture, and announced that it reserves the right to refer the matter to the Confederation of African Football.

Ten minutes of noise and a complaint on hold

In its statement, the club details the scene: “For more than ten minutes, firecrackers and fireworks sounded in the vicinity of the establishment, disturbing the peace of the premises on the eve of this important African fixture. #TPM reserves the right to refer the matter to @CAF_Online,” the post on the social network reads.

The wording remains cautious: TP Mazembe reserves the right to refer the matter to CAF, but no complaint has been filed at this stage. A possible filing before the disciplinary committee of the continental body is among the possible next steps. The source of the information is the official statement published on X, relayed by Foot Africa.

A 1-1 that leaves everything open

The sporting picture is tight. The first leg was played in Lubumbashi on Saturday 17 October 2026 and ended 1-1, according to CAF Online and LiveScore. That result leaves the outcome of the tie completely open before the return leg in Radès.

The two clubs already share a heavy history in the Champions League, marked in particular by the memorable 8-0 inflicted by the Ravens in 2019, Foot Africa recalls.

Radès, Sunday, and after

The decisive second leg is due to be played at the Stade olympique Hamadi-Agrebi in Radès on Sunday 25 October 2026, four days after the club’s statement.

A complaint to CAF’s disciplinary committee remains possible, but is not a given: for now, the club has only announced that it reserves its right. The matter could therefore resurface if TP Mazembe takes that step before kick-off.
