Achraf Hakimi, the Moroccan full-back at PSG, provided the assist for Paris’s fourth goal against FC Barcelona (4-2). With his 19th assist in the Champions League, he draws level with Mohamed Salah, one short of Samuel Eto’o’s record, according to Radio Mars.
The Parc des Princes shook for a Champions League matchday 3 heavyweight clash, and it was a full-back who supplied the final spark. PSG won 4-2 against FC Barcelona, with an assist from Achraf Hakimi for Paris’s fourth goal, scored by midfielder Fabián Ruiz in the 86th minute, Canal Supporters reports.
With that contribution, the Atlas Lions full-back takes his tally to 19 assists in the Champions League, according to Radio Mars. That figure puts him level with Mohamed Salah, the second-best African assist provider in Champions League history, and just one short of Samuel Eto’o’s all-time record of 20.
A game of twists and turns
PSG broke the deadlock in the 38th minute through Désiré Doué, before Xavi Espart equalised for Barcelona in the 55th, according to Guinee360. Lucas Hernández restored Paris’s lead with a header in the 72nd, but Lamine Yamal levelled things up again in the 79th.
The closing stages swung in favour of Luis Enrique’s men. Vitinha put PSG back in front in the 81st minute with a powerful volley from the edge of the box, before Hakimi laid on the perfect pass for Fabián Ruiz five minutes later, according to Footeo News.
The Paris club have now strung together a second resounding win with 4 goals scored, after their 4-2 victory at Manchester City six days earlier, Canal+ recalls. A perfect 9 points from three matches puts them alone at the provisional top of the league phase.
Barcelona’s run halted
For FC Barcelona, this evening marks a setback. According to Footeo News, the Catalan club suffer their very first defeat of the 2026-2027 season in all competitions, after 11 consecutive wins. That run therefore ends at the Parc des Princes.
On the injury front, PSG lost Ousmane Dembélé (left thigh, 19th minute), then Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Marquinhos in the 59th, PSG.fr indicates.
“Tired, we ran a lot, but happy for the win and the three points,” Hakimi told Football Écologie France. The Moroccan full-back added, to Canal Supporters: “We’re ambitious and we want to keep winning.”
Eto’o’s record in sight
With 19 assists, Hakimi draws level with Mohamed Salah and is now just one short of Samuel Eto’o, according to Radio Mars’s count. Samuel Eto’o holds that continental record with 20 assists.
PSG return to Ligue 1 action next weekend, before matchday 4 of the Champions League in early November, a chance for Hakimi to try to equal or surpass Eto’o’s mark.
