According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Lille and Leverkusen have sent emissaries to monitor Union Saint-Gilloise’s 21-year-old South African winger Relebohile Mofokeng, with offers of around €15 million possible as early as January.
The 21-year-old South African left winger, under contract with Union Saint-Gilloise, is reportedly being closely tracked by several leading European sides, including LOSC Lille and Bayer Leverkusen, according to information from transfer-market specialist journalist Ekrem Konur, relayed by AfricaFoot.
Both clubs have reportedly sent emissaries to Belgium to monitor the player. Financial proposals estimated at around €15 million could be submitted as early as the January 2027 winter transfer window, according to the same source.
Lille and Leverkusen lying in wait
“Scouts from Lille and Bayer Leverkusen are continuing to track the 21-year-old Union SG winger. Offers in the region of €15 million could arrive,” said Ekrem Konur, quoted by AfricaFoot. In other words: emissaries from Lille and Bayer Leverkusen are continuing to monitor the 21-year-old Union winger, and offers of around €15 million could arrive.
Atlético Madrid, Napoli, Chelsea and Brighton are also reportedly keeping a very close eye on the young South African international’s progress, again according to the same source. These clubs would therefore be among the contenders, based on this information.
A contract until 2030
Mofokeng is tied to Union Saint-Gilloise until 30 June 2030, with an option for a further year. His market value is currently estimated at €6 million according to specialist estimates, well below the €15 million mentioned for a possible offer.
The player had caught the eye a few days earlier in the Belgian Cup, where he proved decisive in the Union shirt. He had already made a strong impression in the opening matchdays of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with the Bafana Bafana.
A career on the rise
Mofokeng began his professional career in South Africa before moving to the Belgian league, where he quickly established himself as a first-choice starter on the left wing. Union Saint-Gilloise are competing in Europe and at the top end of the Jupiler Pro League, which increases the South African’s continental exposure.
The winter transfer window is due to open in January 2027, when any concrete offers could be submitted to Union Saint-Gilloise.
