Teungueth FC lost 0-2 at home to Colombe Sportive in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round. Eyango Priso and Adam Musah scored for Colombe Sportive. Their head coach, Malick Daf, will have to turn the tie around on 25 October in Yaoundé.
At the Léopold Sédar Senghor Stadium in Dakar, Teungueth FC suffered a home defeat on Sunday 18 October. The Senegalese club lost 0-2 to Colombe Sportive, the Cameroonian side, in the first leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round, according to the Instagram account 13football.
Eyango Priso, Colombe Sportive’s forward, opened the scoring as early as the 15th minute. Adam Musah, another forward at the Cameroonian club, doubled the lead in the 47th minute. A scenario contrary to the ambitions of Malick Daf, Teungueth’s head coach.
A two-goal cushion demanded before the match
Before the game, Malick Daf had set the target: “We have no room for error: if we want to qualify, we have to win at home,” he told Wiwsport. The coach had called for a lead of at least two goals to go into the return leg with peace of mind. In the end, it is a two-goal deficit that his team will have to make up away from home.
Teungueth find themselves with their backs to the wall, according to 13football. The club had reached this second preliminary round after seeing off Guinea-Bissau’s FC Cantchungo, according to Wiwsport.
A solid Colombe Sportive so far
On the other side, Colombe Sportive reached this stage by eliminating Stade Malien on penalties (4-3), after two 0-0 draws, Wiwsport reports.
On Sunday, they scored two goals without conceding. Malick Daf’s men will therefore have to find attacking solutions if they hope to turn things around, and their only chance of qualification now rests on the return leg.
A decisive return leg in Yaoundé
The return leg is scheduled for Sunday 25 October 2026 at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Omnisports Stadium in Yaoundé. Teungueth FC will have to make up their two-goal deficit there to secure a place in the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition, according to 13football.
The overall winner of the two-legged tie will book a place in the group stage of the CAF Champions League, CAF Online specifies. In addition, clubs eliminated in the preliminary rounds receive financial support of US$100,000 from CAF to offset travel costs, according to the same source.
