Trabzonspor: Salah decisive, Djú at the double, Onuachu off injured

  • Egypt, EN

Winners 4-2 at KuPS in the Conference League, Trabzonspor saw forward Mohamed Salah score and assist, striker Franculino Djú bag a brace, and forward Paul Onuachu go off injured as early as the 10th minute.

Trabzonspor won 4-2 on the pitch of KuPS Kuopio, at the Tammelan Stadion, this Thursday 15 October 2026 in the Conference League. A win built early, spoiled by Paul Onuachu’s injury exit as early as the 10th minute, after sharp pain in the upper part of his left thigh felt during a duel, reports Foot Africa.

The Nigerian had just opened the scoring in the 3rd minute from a Mohamed Salah pass. Brought on in his place, young Bissau-Guinean striker Franculino Djú signed a brace in the 47th and 91st minutes.

Onuachu off, Djú takes over

The opening goal therefore came at a cost for the Nigerian striker. Struck after a duel, Paul Onuachu had to make way as early as the 10th minute, with the seriousness of the injury not yet known at this stage: in-depth examinations must determine the length of his unavailability, Foot Africa specifies.

His replacement quickly erased the concern on the scoreboard. Franculino Djú, a Bissau-Guinean striker, doubled the lead after the break and then sealed the score in the closing moments, in the 47th and 91st minutes. A brace off the bench that kept Trabzonspor at a distance, despite the Finnish side reducing the deficit from a direct corner.

Salah, eleven contributions in nine matches

Mohamed Salah continues his run. Provider for the opening goal, the forward himself scored the second in the 44th minute, taking his tally to 11 contributions — goals and assists combined — in his 9 matches this season, according to Foot Africa. He thus joins Cody Gakpo and Mario Götze among the rare players to have scored and delivered an assist in the Champions League, the Europa League and the Conference League.

Behind him, André Onana, the Cameroonian goalkeeper, did what was needed. He kept out a penalty from Piotr Parzyszek in the 59th minute. NTV Haber attributes KuPS’s two goals to Petteri Pennanen, in the 54th minute from a direct corner, and to Gustav Engvall, in the 96th.

Three out of three for Thomas Reis

Trabzonspor’s success confirms the momentum of coach Thomas Reis, who records a 3 out of 3 since taking charge. His men had previously beaten Galatasaray (4-0) and then Samsunspor (3-0), according to NTV Haber.

Trabzonspor return to the Süper Lig on Monday 19 October 2026 with a clash against Beşiktaş, before hosting Hearts in the Conference League on 22 October 2026.
