Al-Fateh: Mourad Batna turns provider then scorer, Al-Hazem overturned 3-2!

Trailing 2-1, Al-Fateh snatched a 3-2 win against Al-Hazem thanks to Mourad Batna, who set up a goal in the 88th minute and then scored in stoppage time, handing Djamel Sellami his first win of the season.

Al-Fateh claimed their first win of the season in the Saudi Pro League by beating Al-Hazem 3-2 this Thursday, 15 October 2026, at the end of a match full of twists and turns. Twice behind, the team of Moroccan coach Djamel Sellami turned the game around in the closing minutes thanks to their Morocco international Mourad Batna, according to Arab News.

The winger first delivered the assist for Faisal Al-Abdulwahed’s equaliser in the 88th minute, before scoring the winner himself in stoppage time with a splendid strike. Two decisive actions that lift Al-Fateh out of the relegation zone.

Bendebka opens, Kanga responds

The evening had nevertheless started badly for Djamel Sellami’s men. It was Sofiane Bendebka, Algeria international of Al-Hazem, who opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute against his former club, reports Arab News.

Ten minutes later, Ivory Coast striker Wilfried Kanga brought the two teams level in the 27th minute. But after the break, Abdulaziz Al-Dwehe restored Al-Hazem’s lead in the 49th minute, plunging Al-Fateh into a tricky situation.

Batna sparks the fightback

A spark was needed. It came from Mourad Batna. In the 88th minute, the Morocco international gave Faisal Al-Abdulwahed the ball for the equaliser, reigniting his team in the closing minutes of normal time.

Then, in stoppage time, he scored the winning goal himself with a splendid strike, according to Arab News. The winger thus carried Al-Fateh’s revolt to the very end of the match.

Out of the relegation zone

This win is particularly significant for Moroccan coach Djamel Sellami. It is his very first success at the helm of Al-Fateh this season, after a heavy defeat in the previous matchday against Al-Ahli.

Thanks to this result, Al-Fateh climb out of the relegation zone and relaunch their campaign. This Thursday, in the Saudi Pro League, the three winners — Al-Faisaly, Al-Khaleej and Al-Fateh — all claimed their first victory of the season, Arab News points out.

The next matchday of the Saudi Pro League is scheduled for the weekend of 23-24 October 2026.
