After PSG’s success on Manchester City’s turf (4-2) in the Champions League, Achraf Hakimi said he was “already very happy to be nominated” among the Ballon d’Or finalists. The Moroccan right-back recalls that collective trophies remain his priority.
Achraf Hakimi is showing his satisfaction. After Paris Saint-Germain’s emphatic victory on Manchester City’s turf (4-2), on matchday 2 of the Champions League, the Moroccan right-back appeared on CBS Sports Golazo. Asked about his nomination among the Ballon d’Or finalists, he expressed personal pride without losing sight of what matters most: collective trophies.
“We are very pleased with our performance and the three points,” said Hakimi, quoted by Le360 Sport. The player delivered a very high-level performance himself down his flank, confirming his status as an undisputed leader in the Parisian dressing room.
“Already very happy to be nominated”
The Moroccan defender makes no secret of it: being among the Ballon d’Or finalists is a great personal pride. “Even if I don’t win, I’m already very happy to be nominated,” he told CBS Sports Golazo, in comments reported by Le360 Sport.
For Hakimi is not a finalist like any other. He is among the rare African full-backs in history to be nominated for France Football’s prestigious award. A status that the international press highlights by placing him among the world’s best specialists in his position. This nomination comes after a full season, played on all the major fronts.
The collective above all
But the full-back does not want to stop at an individual distinction. He stressed that his priority objective remained the collective trophies won with PSG and Morocco. A philosophy that fits a player who strings together high-calibre performances.
PSG secured this emphatic success at Manchester City and now top their Champions League group, with two wins from two matches. A collective momentum that fits the club’s ambitions on the European stage.
Focus on Ligue 1
Now it is time for the league: Paris Saint-Germain will play a Ligue 1 match this weekend, with the chance to continue their run.
The official Ballon d’Or ceremony is due to be held in Paris. Its exact date is not yet known.
