Senegalese centre-back Arouna Sangante (24) has signed for Sevilla FC until 2031. A free agent after five seasons at Le Havre, the Mbao-born defender now heads for La Liga. Confirmed on Tuesday, 16 June 2026.
Born in Mbao, on the outskirts of Dakar, Arouna Sangante continues his rise far from home. The 24-year-old Senegalese defender has signed a five-year deal with Sevilla FC, running until 30 June 2031. He joined Le Havre AC back in 2017, aged just 15, and came through every stage there: the academy, promotion to Ligue 1 in 2023, then survival in the top flight. He became the youngest captain in Ligue 1 history during the 2023-2024 season, and leaves Normandy as a free agent with 147 professional appearances to his name.
The Andalusian club, 13th in last season’s La Liga, are betting on a strong centre-back who can also fill in at right-back. Called up by the Lions of Teranga in 2024 for friendly matches, Sangante is still waiting for his first senior cap for Senegal — a goal now within reach as he takes on this Spanish challenge. From Dakar to Seville, the Senegalese diaspora has another name to follow closely in La Liga next season.
