Following Marseille’s home draw against Nice (1-1), manager Habib Beye directly confronted Himad Abdelli, who had come on as a substitute in the 81st minute. Beye blamed the 26-year-old Algerian international for the ball loss that led to Nice’s converted penalty in the 88th minute, and criticised his lack of defensive effort. Abdelli’s response was cutting: « Don’t talk to me like that, you’re not my father — and I wasn’t the only one who came on. » Several senior players stepped in to defuse the situation, but the damage was done, revealing a deeply troubled atmosphere inside the club.
The fallout was immediate: Abdelli did not travel with the squad to Nantes for Matchday 32 (Saturday, May 2nd, 3pm), leaving the training ground alone by car.
