Salah set to leave Liverpool… his replacement, also African, is worth €100 million!

Still courted by Saudi Arabia, the Egyptian star is expected to bid farewell to Anfield at the end of the season. And to replace him, Liverpool are ready to open their wallet once again.

Liverpool are already preparing for life after Mohamed Salah (33). The Egyptian winger, a key figure at Anfield for nearly a decade, could leave the club this summer amid persistent interest from both the Saudi Pro League and MLS. According to several outlets including BBC Sport and Foot Mercato, Salah’s departure is “increasingly likely,” with advanced talks reportedly taking place between his agent and Al-Ittihad. Despite signing a contract extension last year, tensions with manager Arne Slot and high salary demands continue to fuel speculation about his future.

To anticipate his exit, Liverpool’s sporting management have identified several offensive targets capable of taking over in the long term. Among them, one name stands out — Yan Diomandé. The 19-year-old Ivorian winger from RB Leipzig has been enjoying a stellar season, racking up 11 goals and 7 assists. According to journalist Graeme Bailey and a viral post by KrrishFT, Liverpool’s scouts are closely monitoring the youngster as a concrete target for the summer, with competition from Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

However, Leipzig have no intention of letting go of one of their brightest prospects without a fight. The German club are reportedly demanding at least €100 million to start negotiations — a price tag that reflects the potential of the young Ivorian international, considered one of the most promising talents of his generation. Liverpool, known for their willingness to invest heavily in attack, could go big once again on the transfer market to prepare for the future and cushion the potential departure of Salah, whose contract expires in 18 months.

While Salah has scored only two goals in nine games across all competitions in 2026 — a noticeable dip compared to previous seasons — this high-profile pursuit highlights Liverpool’s proactive strategy. With continued Saudi interest and the possibility of a major transfer fee for Salah, the Reds are betting on youth and potential, with Diomandé seen as a cornerstone for maintaining their dominance in both the Premier League and Europe.
