Chico Faria Camará Lamba, a 22-year-old central defender, signed a four-year contract with AS Saint-Étienne on July 7, 2025. Originally from Guinea-Bissau but a Portuguese youth international, he chose Saint-Étienne to take on a new challenge and accelerate his professional growth.
The young defender, known for his physical strength (1.89 m and 86 kg) and tactical intelligence, was trained at Sporting Lisbon before establishing himself as a key starter at FC Arouca in Liga Portugal. His move to ASSE is motivated by his desire to get more playing time in Ligue 2 and actively contribute to the club’s promotion back to Ligue 1.
During his official presentation, Chico Lamba said, “It’s a great opportunity for me to progress. I want to bring my contribution, show all my determination and help Saint-Étienne achieve its goals.” His quick integration and promising early performances have already won over the fans.
In defense, he is known for his solid one-on-one play, calmness under pressure, and ability to read the game. With several matches already played at the start of the 2025/2026 season, Chico Lamba is becoming a key figure in the Saint-Étienne setup and a future pillar of the team.
