Azzedine Ounahi: Espanyol and Trabzonspor Compete for the Moroccan Midfielder from OM

Azzedine Ounahi, the 25-year-old Moroccan international midfielder under contract with Olympique de Marseille until 2027, is at the center of transfer rumors this summer.

After a mixed spell with Marseille, scoring only 3 goals in 44 matches, Ounahi has caught the attention of several European clubs, notably Espanyol Barcelona and Trabzonspor, according to the latest reports.

Espanyol, a La Liga club looking to strengthen its squad, has already begun talks with Marseille and submitted an official offer to sign Ounahi. Trabzonspor is closely monitoring the situation but is not currently in the lead for signing the Moroccan midfielder, who remains an attractive profile for both teams.

Following a recent loan at Panathinaikos where he displayed his talent, Ounahi is currently training with Marseille’s reserve team, indicating that coach Roberto De Zerbi no longer sees him in his immediate plans. This puts pressure on Marseille to consider a sale to reduce their squad and stabilize finances, especially as Ounahi seeks more playing time and a new challenge to revive his career after his breakthrough at the 2022 World Cup.

At 25, Azzedine Ounahi is at a pivotal point in his professional journey. A successful integration at Espanyol or Trabzonspor could provide the regularity and exposure needed to confirm his potential on the European stage. Marseille remains open to negotiations for a transfer valued at around 10 million euros, the player’s current market value according to Transfermarkt.
