Chelsea: Jackson and Nkunku Likely to Leave Stamford Bridge This Summer

Chelsea is preparing for an intense summer transfer window, potentially selling their two key forwards, Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Blues want to lighten their attacking squad to rebalance the team and finance upcoming signings. Jackson, valued around €70 million, has shown interest in moving to Aston Villa, a club now highly attractive to him, despite interest from other Premier League teams and AC Milan. Negotiations are ongoing, but Aston Villa appears to be the priority destination for Jackson.

Regarding Christopher Nkunku, talks with Bayern Munich are continuing but no final agreement has been reached. Nkunku seeks more playing time, which Chelsea, viewing him mainly as a rotational player, cannot guarantee. Bayern prefers a loan deal, whereas Chelsea wants a permanent sale, complicating a swift transfer. Additionally, the completion of this transfer would also influence the near future of Xavi Simons, whose situation depends on these deals.

These attacking moves are part of Chelsea’s broader strategy to strengthen and reorganize their offensive line after a season marked by integration and consistency challenges for both Jackson and Nkunku. Despite many appearances, especially by Jackson, neither striker has consistently secured a starting spot, prompting the club to consider their departure to free up places and secure significant financial resources. Notably, they were not included in warm-up matches against AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen, signaling their likely imminent exit.

As the transfer window nears its end, Chelsea is at a critical juncture. The club hopes to close these sales quickly to implement its ambitious plans, including prioritizing the signing of a midfielder like Moisés Caicedo. However, uncertainty remains over the terms of Jackson’s and Nkunku’s transfers, which could still evolve in the coming days before the window closes.
