Newcastle United is looking to significantly strengthen its attack before the end of the 2025 summer transfer window, mainly to compensate for the departure of Bryan Mbeumo, who transferred to Manchester United.
With a substantial financial budget, the Magpies are targeting two promising and experienced offensive players to maintain their competitiveness in the Premier League and the Champions League.
According to The Guardian, Newcastle is close to finalizing the signing of Yoane Wissa, a 28-year-old Congolese international striker who scored 19 Premier League goals last season with Brentford. At the same time, the club is interested in Samu Aghehowa, a 21-year-old striker from FC Porto, who also scored 19 goals in Liga Portugal. This transfer could happen after the arrival of Luuk de Jong in Portugal.
Both players are in excellent offensive form, and this double operation could represent a total investment of around €100 million, reflecting Newcastle’s clear ambition to maintain a high level of competitiveness before the market deadline. These reinforcements fit into a strategy aimed at compensating for Mbeumo’s departure while qualitatively strengthening the squad.
This momentum takes place in a transfer window where Newcastle has also secured the arrival of Anthony Elanga for nearly €61 million, illustrating the club’s desire to build a squad capable of competing in the Premier League and on the European stage. With these strategic targets, the Magpies are investing heavily to leave no doubt about their short- and medium-term ambitions.
