Toulouse FC strengthens its midfield by signing Abu Francis for four years

Toulouse FC has officially announced the arrival of Abu Francis, a 24-year-old Ghanaian midfielder from Cercle Bruges. Acquired for around €2.6 million, the player signed a long-term four-year contract with the French club, thereby strengthening Toulouse’s central midfield ahead of the 2025/2026 Ligue 1 season.

Trained at the Right to Dream Academy in Ghana and having played for Denmark’s FC Nordsjaelland, Abu Francis became a key player for Cercle Bruges over recent years, making more than 30 appearances last season with 3 goals and 7 assists. An international for Ghana, he has already earned five caps since 2024, reflecting his growing importance on the international stage.

Known as a box-to-box midfielder who can also play defensively, Francis is praised for his dynamism, defensive aggressiveness, and ability to control the pace of the game. Toulouse’s technical director, Viktor Behzani, emphasized that Francis’s physical and technical qualities perfectly match the demands of the French league, promising a significant contribution to Toulouse’s ambitions.

Joining Toulouse marks a new chapter for Abu Francis in Ligue 1. Enthusiastic, he expressed his happiness to join a club with a strong identity and passionate supporters. He will wear the number 17 shirt and become the first Ghanaian to represent Toulouse FC, which aims to build a competitive squad for the challenges of the French championship.
