Highly sought-after this summer, 28-year-old Jérémie Boga is close to joining Turkish club Trabzonspor. The Istanbul-based side is considering a player swap involving midfielder Batista Mendy to facilitate the deal, but the outcome depends on player willingness and contractual terms.
Ivorian winger Jérémie Boga, contracted to OGC Nice until 2027, has attracted strong interest from Trabzonspor. The Turkish club, eager to boost their attacking options for the upcoming season, has made Boga a priority target. However, Trabzonspor’s financial constraints complicate a straightforward transfer, prompting the club to explore alternative solutions.
One such solution is a potential swap deal involving Jérémie Boga and 25-year-old midfielder Batista Mendy, currently at Trabzonspor. Mendy, a former Angers player, had a solid season in the Süper Lig with 32 appearances and one goal. This exchange could reduce the financial burden for Trabzonspor while providing Nice with valuable midfield reinforcement, a position the French club is actively strengthening.
Negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing but remain preliminary. Nice shows clear interest in Mendy, although the swap has not been finalized. Boga himself is hesitant about moving to Turkey but has started reconsidering after Trabzonspor reportedly offered to double his salary.
The transfer’s outcome hinges on contract details, player preferences, and financial considerations. Additionally, other clubs, including some from the Premier League, are monitoring Boga’s situation, adding further uncertainty to his next destination.
Beyond the swap proposal, Trabzonspor is said to have offered Nice a loan with a €10 million purchase option. Despite concrete proposals, no official agreement has yet been reached.
Currently, Nice and Trabzonspor fans await a prompt decision to make progress in the transfer window, which remains uncertain for both Jérémie Boga and Batista Mendy.
