Almamy Touré seeking a new challenge in Europe: Cardiff City leads the chase

Free of contract in summer 2025, 28-year-old Malian international Almamy Touré is attracting attention from several European clubs, with a strong likelihood of joining the English Championship. The versatile full-back, able to play both right and left, is exploring opportunities to revive his career and taking time to choose an ambitious sporting project.

Among the suitors, Cardiff City, nicknamed the Vultures, stands out. The Welsh club is in regular advanced contact with the player’s representatives and plans to offer him a two-year contract to strengthen its defense on the flanks. Cardiff sees Touré as a key piece to bring versatility and experience to its backline.

In addition to Cardiff, several other European clubs have expressed interest. FC Nantes, FC Cologne, FC St. Pauli, Sunderland, and Standard Liege are serious contenders. Meanwhile, Touré’s current club, FC Kaiserslautern in Germany, has proposed a one-year extension, which he will consider only if no more attractive offers arise during the transfer window.

At the same time, CSKA 1948 Sofia has initiated negotiations with the Malian Eagle. More exotic options in China, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar are also being studied, demonstrating a diverse market for the player, though no official club announcements have been made yet.

At 28, Almamy Touré is leveraging his experience, including his time in Bundesliga with Eintracht Frankfurt and in German leagues, to make a thoughtful decision. His profile as a versatile defender, able to play centrally or as a right or left back, makes him sought-after to stabilize defenses in competitive leagues.

The transfer market remains open, and the coming weeks will be decisive for the future of this player looking for a fresh start in his professional career.
