Ibrahim Maza, promising Algerian prodigy signs for Bayer Leverkusen in €12 million deal

Ibrahim Maza, the 19-year-old Algerian international, officially left Hertha Berlin to join German champions Bayer Leverkusen, who announced his signing until 2030 after activating his €12 million release clause.

A product of Hertha’s youth academy, Maza impressed in the 2. Bundesliga this season with 10 direct goal contributions (5 goals and 5 assists) across 30 appearances. Known for his technical skills and maturity beyond his years, the attacking midfielder can play behind the striker or on the left wing. He is seen as a potential replacement for Florian Wirtz, should the German talent leave Leverkusen.

At Leverkusen, Maza enters an ambitious squad led by coach Erik ten Hag, alongside players like Amine Adli and Aleix García. He declared his eagerness to prove himself on the big European stage, continue his development, and compete for major trophies[1].

Born in Germany of Algerian and Vietnamese heritage, Maza signed his first professional contract with Hertha in 2023. He became the club’s youngest-ever goalscorer and recently received his first call-up to the Algeria national team.

Settling in well, Maza highlighted the higher intensity and the quality of training at Leverkusen, while praising the welcoming team atmosphere. The club’s upcoming training camp in Brazil reflects their ambitious vision.

This transfer firmly positions Ibrahim Maza as one of the most exciting young talents in European football, with a promising future ahead at Bayer Leverkusen.
